I teach privately from my home, in-person and electronically. I am on faculty at various workshops, and at the University of Toronto, offering instruction on violas da gamba (all sizes), violoni and historical double basses. I also offer consultation, mentoring and tutoring for research projects.

The University of Toronto offers 3 programs for early music specialists, all at the graduate level, ranging from the one-year ‘Advanced Certificate in Performance’ to more extensive MMus and DMA programs. But even at an undergraduate level, it is possible to participate in early music since the baroque string ensemble, viol consort and Schola Cantorum are open to both undergrad and grad students as ensemble electives (welcoming students with or without previous experience). I teach historical bass (historical contrabasses tuned in both 4ths and 5ths and Viennese bass, with underhand and overhand bows), and since 2005, I have been leading the viol consort class. G violone is included as part of that ensemble as often as possible (with loaner instruments sometimes arranged locally) and the ensemble is privileged for its weekly meetings to use the fabulous Hart House viols.

As a means of intrroducing and discussing specific historical instruments, issues of performance practice and various repertoires, over the last 20 years I have designed and presented many specialty workshops, lecture recitals and masterclasses at universities and conservatories, including the Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Venezia), the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Den Haag), the Schola Cantorum Basilensis (Basel), the Australian Viol Easter School (Canberra), the Universidade Federal de Goias (Brazil), University of Wisconsin-Madison, Eastern Illinois University, University of Indiana (Bloomington), Ball State University (Indiana), Butler University (Indianapolis), Baldwin Wallace College (Cleveland), University of Akron (Ohio), the Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia), the Cleveland Institute of Music, Oberlin College, Northwestern University, Duquesne University (Pittburgh), the Hartt School of Music (Hartford), Longy School of Music (Boston), Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore) and the Juilliard School of Music (NYC). The presentations are individually tailoured to the needs and interests of the specific institutions and their students. If a presentation is of interest to you, please contact me for more infomation.
